• As a number of you reported, a service interruption impaired sending and receiving notifications for a couple of days. This was due to an avalanche of snowflake cookies. When it first emerged 20 years ago, Nirvana's debut album, Bleach, represented an equally heretical notion to some indie aesthetes: Flipper-grade sludge-punk molded into Beatles-schooled pop schematics. Original producer Jack Endino's new remastering job gives Bleach a much-needed boost in fidelity, but there's an intrinsic, primordial murkiness to this album that can't be polished-- while Axl was welcoming the masses into the Sunset Strip jungle, Nirvana dragged the Sub Pop set into the bleak, chilly backwoods from which they came. Формально история создания этого альбома начинается в 1794 году, когда Кристофом Шмидом было написано стихотворение «Ihr Kinderlein Kommet» (или же I.K.K), которое чуть позже было положено на музыку, и со временем стало одной из популярных рождественских песенок. В 2001 году исполнение этой песни пятилетней девочкой по имени Соня было записано ее отцом, Ральфом Веховски. Так начиналась серия его альбомов, в основе которых была положена эта запись. Сам RLW, а также его многочисленные коллеги время от времени обращались к этому небольшому произведению, разбирая его на куски, конструируя на его основе свои собственные композиции, постоянно трансформируя оригинал и его многочисленные производные. Диск «Herzblutanteil» опять демонстрирует чудеса декомпозиции, к которой приложили руку виднейшие мастера жанра. Открывающий альбом Кристиан Рену («Brume»), придерживаясь своей характерной манеры, раскидывает мелким песком вокруг слушателя множество коротких, абстрактных звуков (собранных практически со всех предыдущих релизов этой серии), помещая в этот хаос «оригинальное» исполнение Сони (довольно скверное, но «с душой»), вокруг которого вьется метель из ее же голоса, порезанного на мелкие кусочки, а также всевозможных «бытовых» шумов. Версия «T.I.T.O» начинается с тишины, подрагивающей от коротких звуков, которая медленно, но неумолимо наполняется скрипом, шуршанием и пульсациями, хаотично перемещающимися на фоне «циркулярного» гула (вроде как извлеченного из огромных, вращающихся стальных механизмов). Развивая тему, авторы «насыпают» поверх этого все тот же детский голосок, который их стараниями концентрируется практически до истерики. Детство кончается вместе с «(Acte Un)» от «Formanex» - вместо детского голоса они используют солидный мужской, уныло вещающий на фоне пасторальных мотивов (коровьи колокольчики и мычание) и игры (если не тотального разрушения) на детских игрушках. В «I.K.K. Virtuell Blau» звучат вполне обычные музыкальные инструменты, исторгающие из себя скрип струн и хрипы, которые музыканты размещают посреди задумчивой тишины. Алан Коуртис, напротив, доводит свои преобразования до масштабного, «космического» гула, напряженного и расслабленного одновременно, открывающего перед внутренним взором безграничное пространство, нашпигованное многочисленными сигналами. «Dustbreeders» первыми делают шаг на территорию сумасшедшего шума – шума, звучащего так, будто бы микрофон был завернут в плотную тряпку и находился на некотором отдалении. Максимальные ускорения голоса, наложения и неожиданные разрывы в повествовании доводят ближе к финалу практически до паники – вряд ли бы сам Веховски хотел бы, чтобы его подросшая дочь услышала, во что можно превратить ту самую первую, «памятную» запись. Эстафету подхватывают «Intertronik», последовательно обрушивая целые бетонные блоки шумов и разрывая тончайшее звуковое пространство, ими же самими созданное в самом начале. Кажется, что Говард Стелцер записал много-много кусочков (а возможно и все, из которых были сконструированы предыдущие композиции альбома) на пленку, которую запустил в обратную сторону и сильно ускорил. Получилось какое-то копошение безумных насекомых, абсурдная, но интересная вещь. Сам Ральф подводит короткий, но емкий итог – как и любой любящий отец, он уделяет больше внимания голосу своей дочери, позволяя себе добавить лишь фоновые, абстрактные зарисовки, странным образом сведенные вместе. Странный альбом, запечатлевший настоящую симфонию диссонансов, открывающую такие бездны звука, что одного прослушивания точно не хватит. Теория декомпозиции отражена и в оформлении – попробуйте как-нибудь собрать все кусочки мозаики (с указанием авторов и названиями треков), вложенные в упаковку диска, вместе. Может быть, тоже получится что-то новое?

Primal Mystification At Hypnos

"Primal Mystification" emerged from drone sounds, similar to the way we humans emerged from the primordial ooze. Oscillating ambient bell washes were created using field recordings and mystical effect processes, and then simple rhythmic and melodic phrases evolved from the primal material. Sometimes there is a change or development in the rhythmic material, and always there are changes in the drones, behind, as they shift and flow. "Primal Mystification" is a musical union of form and formlessness.

Actually I did rather well myself, this last christmas. the nicest present I received was a gift certificate "good at any hospital for a lobotomy". rather thoughtful.

Mister Vapor is another brainchild musical project by Saint Louis, USA citizen Thomas Park, well known in the netaudio scene by his Mystified alias. Mister Vapor, however, goes deeper in the Ambient-slash-IDM pursuits by Mystified, offering richer and more detailed - and mostly dark - soundscapes.
Drones also make an appearance in 'Almost Forever', of which 'Hamscape' is a track to remember. Closely followed by 'Disease' in my favorites list. When not applying beautiful and hypnotic drones, Thomas is doing other damn good ambient tracks, like 'Chordscape' with its downbeat IDM style; or 'Diesel', which surprisingly sounds like a stripped-to-the-bone ambient hip-hop tune. Thomas does it all and in the end manages to look good in the picture.
